The vineyard sits amidst the sandstone and clay ridges and valleys of the High Weald with its rolling pattern of small hedgerow-lined fields, unchanged since medieval times. Bordered by ancient woodlands and streams, in Spring we have bluebells and woodland anemones followed by foxgloves and honeysuckle and autumn blackberries.
Our soils are a mix of sandy silt loam on the ridges , with flint and clay loam on the lower slopes.

We grow vines which work well with the soil and climate here, Bacchus for its lively and fresh hedgerow characteristics, Pinot Blanc for a more restrained and classic white wine and Cabernet Noir for a fruity, rich red. All of these are grown with a mixed grass and wildflower sward on the vineyard floor , keeping the whole vineyard alive with meadow butterflies, hedgerow birds and the other wildlife typical of the High Weald.
